Duo represents trio at annual sport management conference

Faculty member Alex Gang and student Sadie Chamberlain presented new research dealing with the impact of music in soccer at the Applied Sport Management Association (ASMA) Conference on Feb. 12-14 at the University of Cincinnati.

Gang, who is the co-PI on the research, is a soccer expert, having played and coached for a number of years. Chamberlain is a sport management student. The other co-PI, Tristan Loria, who did not attend the conference, is a faculty member in the College of Education, Sport, and Human Sciences’ Kinesiology program. Loria has vast early-career research dealing with music and human movement and opened an interdisciplinary lab in January to research this further.

The conference included panels about women’s sports and leadership; strategic initiatives of Cincinnati pro sports; undergraduate research conference where students shared poster presentations about their research interests; an athletics director panel; and a case study competition.

Before attending the conference, Chamberlain joined the college podcast Education Eclipse to discuss her role with the WSU club soccer team, as well as the upcoming conference.

The 2026 conference will take place at Temple University in Philadelphia.
