Liability Insurance
School districts require that WSU students carry liability insurance before beginning any field experience.
Proof of liability insurance must be on file prior to beginning a field experience. You will need to submit your proof of insurance by uploading a pdf of your liability insurance receipt in ELMS following the steps listed at the bottom of this webpage.
To meet this requirement you have several options:
WSU Student Intern Professional Liability Insurance Policy
- For College of Education, Sport, and Human Sciences – Teacher Preparation Students Only
- $7.00 per policy term
- Navigate to the Student Intern Liability Insurance Touchnet Storefront
- Select for the date coverage begins to be on the date of purchase
- Purchase and forward the payment confirmation email, which serves as your proof of coverage, to ceshs.fieldcert@wsu.edu
National Education Association policy with NEA membership
- $15 per year (September 1 through August 31)
- Journals
- Job opportunities/postings
- Membership rolls over from student status to professional membership
- You will need to submit your proof of insurance by uploading a pdf of your liability insurance receipt in ELMS following steps listed at the bottom of this webpage.
Submitting Liability Insurance in ELMS
- Log in to ELMS
- Select the Requirements module on the left-hand side navigation bar
- Click ADD (or Replace if this is an updated policy) on the Liability Insurance line to start the submission process
- Enter “Completed on Date”
- Enter the “Expiration Date” as exactly one year after the coverage start date you selected
- Click on Upload, to upload a pdf of the email receipt from your purchase. The receipt must clearly show the “Date Coverage Begins”
- Toggle the Completion Status to Complete, then select Enter Requirement
