ELL thematic units for teachers
The following are resources for thematic units, for use in your classroom
Here are the resources:
- Amazon – A few lessons for students about the Amazon Rain Forest.
- Cooking – Some great ideas for cooking many diverse foods and lots of web sites
- Cranes – Use the book Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes to introduce the concepts of Memorial Day and memorial monuments by “finishing” Sadako’s cranes.
- El Ser – A bilingual thematic unit for beginning level High School Spanish class.
- Family – A thematic unit for grades 4-6 integrating reading, writing, listening and speaking.
- Owls – A fun unit for lower grades integrating ELL standards into the mainstream curriculum.
- Planets -This unit on the solar system designed for a 5th grade intermediate ELL class can be adapted for other grades and levels.
- Spanish – Five spanish lessons 10th-11th grade levels
