Tuition and Financial Aid

Tuition Overview

Attending WSU ROAR is an investment in your future, and we want to help students and families understand the whole picture when it comes to cost and financial support. This page outlines the approximate cost of attending the ROAR program and includes information on financial aid, scholarships, and support resources available to help make ROAR more affordable.

ROAR program fees are set by Washington State University and are subject to change each year. Like all WSU students, ROAR students pay standard university fees, in addition to housing, dining, and other living expences.

Many students are eligible for financial aid, scholarships, or support through programs like the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR).

Note: WSU ROAR fees are subject to change to be in alignment with WSU fees and/or ensure program sustainability. Please refer to WSU Student Financial Services for more information on paying program fees.

Financial Aid

FAFSA for WSU ROAR Students

WSU ROAR is an approved Comprehensive Transition Program (CTP) through the US Department of Education. Students who meet eligibility requirements may qualify for federal financial aid, including the Pell Grant and other supports. More information about financial aid for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities is available at StudentAid.gov.

  1. To apply for financial aid, students must complete the FAFSA. Visit studentaid.gov and complete the form.
  2. Select Washington State University as the school. WSU’s federal school code is 003800.

Eligibility for Financial Aid for Students with IDD

  • Applicants are enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a CTP program, such as WSU ROAR.
  • Applicants are maintaining satisfactory academic progress, a standard that WSU ROAR sets for all of our students.
  • Applicants must meet federal student aid eligibility requirements, except that they are not required to have a high school diploma or GED and are not required to be pursuing a degree.

Support from Vocational Rehabilitation

Students with open cases may be eligible to receive transitional learning services money. Contact your Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) counselor and contact the WSU ROAR Employment Services Coordinator for support with this process. For more information about Washington’s DVR, please visit the Washington Division of Vocational Rehabilitation.

WSU ROAR General Scholarship

WSU ROAR scholarships may be available through the College of Education, Sport, and Human Sciences (CESHS) that are specific for WSU ROAR students. Scholarships are based on need, not merit. Each year in the spring semester, parents and students will be notified to apply for ROAR scholarships. The WSU ROAR Scholarship Committee will work with the CESHS’s Development Office to award scholarships according to college and program policies and procedures. For many scholarships, priority is given to students who have completed the FAFSA.
