KIN_ACTV Courses: Building Skills for Lifelong Health
KIN_ACTV classes are designed to promote lifelong physical activity and wellness through a wide range of movement-based experiences. These classes emphasize skill development, fitness improvement, and enjoyment of physical activity in a supportive environment. Students can explore activities that enhance cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, flexibility, and overall health while learning proper techniques and safety practices. KIN_ACTV 100: Special Topics
Special topics classes typically offered are rowing (fall only), futsal (fall and spring), and country swing dance (fall and spring). Futsal is a fast-paced, indoor variation of soccer. Country swing dance class is a combination of line and partner swing dancing. These classes are open to students of all ability levels.

KIN_ACTV 106: Self-Defense
This class teaches strategies you can use to protect yourself in dangerous situations. The focus of this class is on situational awareness, avoidance, verbal de-escalation, and physical techniques. This class is open to students of all ability levels and is offered in the fall and spring.
KIN_ACTV 107: Judo
Judo is a Japanese martial art that focuses on throws, pins, and submissions. In Judo an opponent’s force is used against them, making it highly effective for self-defense and competition. This class is open to students of all ability levels and is offered in the fall and spring.
KIN_ACTV 109: Beginning Golf
This class teaches the skills, techniques, and fundamentals of golf. This class is open to students of all ability levels and is offered in the fall and summer.

KIN_ACTV 110: Intermediate Golf
This class builds on the fundamentals taught in the beginning golf class. It is recommended that you take KIN_ACTV 109 beginning golf or have a golf background before taking this class. Intermediate golf is offered in the fall.
KIN_ACTV 112: Beginning Weight Training
This class teaches the skills, techniques, and fundamentals of weight training. This class is open to students of all ability levels and is offered in the fall and spring.

KIN_ACTV 115: Couch to 5k
This class focuses on the basics and fundamentals of running and is structured to help you go from little or no running experience to being able to run a 5k race. This class is open to students of all ability levels and is offered in the fall and spring.
KIN_ACTV 118: Yoga
Yoga focuses on the mind-body connection and this class combines physical postures, breathing techniques, and meditation to promote balance, flexibility, strength, and mental health. This class is open to students of all ability levels and is offered in the fall and spring.

KIN_ACTV 130: Beginning Volleyball
This class teaches the skills, techniques, and fundamentals of volleyball. This class is open to students of all ability levels and is offered in the fall and spring.
KIN_ACTV 131: Intermediate Volleyball
This class builds on the fundamentals taught in the beginning volleyball class. It is recommended that you take KIN_ACTV 130 beginning volleyball or have a volleyball background before taking this class. Intermediate volleyball is offered in the fall and spring.
KIN_ACTV 135: Beginning Fencing
Fencing is a combat sport that emphasizes agility, strategy, and precision. This class focuses on the fundamentals of the sport and is open to students of all ability levels. Beginning fencing is offered in the fall and spring.

KIN_ACTV 137: Beginning Bowling
This class teaches the skills, techniques, and fundamentals of bowling. This class is open to students of all ability levels and is offered in the fall and spring.
KIN_ACTV 139: Intermediate Bowling
This class builds on the fundamentals taught in the beginning bowling class. It is recommended that you take KIN_ACTV 137 beginning bowling or have a bowling background before taking this class. Intermediate bowling is offered in the fall and spring.
KIN_ACTV 140: Fly-Fishing
This class focuses on the skills and techniques of fly-fishing and is open to students of all ability levels. This class often includes a half day or full day fishing field trip and is offered in the fall, spring, and summer.

KIN_ACTV 147: Basketball 3-on-3
3-on-3 basketball is a variation of traditional basketball, is fast-paced, and focuses on skill and strategy. This class is open to students of all ability levels and is offered in the fall and spring.

KIN_ACTV 150: Pickleball for Beginners
Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. In this class you will be introduced to the skills, techniques, and strategies of pickleball. This class is open to students of all ability levels and is offered in the fall and spring.
KIN_ACTV 160: Barre
Barre utilizes ballet, Pilates, yoga, and strength training elements and emphasizes small, controlled movements and posture holds to build balance, flexibility, and strength. This class is open to students of all ability levels and is offered in the fall and spring.
KIN_ACTV 170: Women’s Self-Defense
Women’s self-defense focuses on empowering you by teaching practical skills and strategies to protect yourself in dangerous situations. It combines awareness, avoidance, prevention, and physical techniques. This class is open to students of all ability levels and is offered in the fall and spring.
KIN_ACTV 172: Meditation
Meditation is a mindfulness practice that teaches you to focus your attention and calm your mind to achieve mental clarity. This class introduces you to a variety of meditation practices, is open to students of all ability levels, and is offered in the fall and spring.

This is a low-impact mat Pilates class that emphasizes core strength, flexibility, posture, and overall body awareness. This class is open to students of all ability levels and is offered in the fall and spring.
